ZIMBABWE: Mabvuku Tafara Constituency Junior Member of Parliamentary has approved an anti-drug abuse campaign to be held by community organisations in Mabvuku and Tafara schools end of May.
Onboard will be Mabvuku Tafara Urban Stereo (MT Urban Stereo) and Mavambo Trust, a Non-Governmental Organisation located in the two high-density suburbs.
18 years old Norest Mharakurwa said the campaign will be helpful as students are on target by drug lords as they will be having pocket money.

“Drug Lords get pupils on board so that their product will run on the market thus drugs are destroying our education system.
“Drugs have also led high rates of theft as addicted students always look for money to buy drugs”, he said.
Students and Drugs
Many students have been involved in drug abuse mainly through bandwagon, as well as, peer pressure among others.
Unfortunately, these young minds are deceived that it is trendy nowadays to take drugs so as to overcome pressures.
The situation has seen many young children drop out of school and fully engaged in the game of drugs.
The sad part is that even girls are also into drugs which made them more vulnerable to teenage and unwanted pregnancies and other risky activities.
“We don’t blame the youths who are already victims of drugs because they went into addiction for different reasons.
“However, let me say drug addiction is temporary because they decide quit drugs today through proper channels we can help them”.
Help for those into drugs
He also said school and community campaigns will help those who are not into drugs to get the education they need about the harmfulness and dangers of drugs.
There have been concerns over the absence of rehabilitation centres and help from communities to help addicts.
“We hope to get victims putting fliers around our community so that parents can vouch for their children in drugs or adults in drugs can call for help.
“For all drug bases we have the Zimbabwe Republic Police on board so they are going to help by arresting dealers”, said Mharakurwa.
