Yami began her career in Bollywood alongside versatile actor Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donor, which was a huge success. Since then, there has been no looking back for either actor.

However, in recent years, Yami has made cameo appearances in movies, for which she is often questioned. The actress addressed the issue, saying it used to bother her, but now characters are more important to her than the length of her roles.

The diva went on, saying, “The fact that I remember it means it did bother me, and you had a younger mind at that time. Of course, my family is there, but strictly speaking, in terms of your workplace, you are completely by yourself, and it’s absolutely fine. When you don’t owe anyone anything, that’s the best feeling. It’s your journey, and you shouldn’t have any expectations. But it did; I always questioned if they wanted to see my acting to see my potential, and then my first film was nice. I would be really happy if someone called me for a screen test. But if they only call me and not my colleagues because someone is connected with someone or you know someone, that’s not right.”

The actor was also asked about her take on “woman-centric movies,” to which she said, “It does bother me, and it is the term that some people in the media pick up and use, and it is used even by the actors. Unknowingly, even I may have used it somewhere because it sounds very nice.”

Talking about the screen test culture in Bollywood, Yami said, “If this happens in the West, then it’s a part of our job. If you get an opportunity, don’t fear anything.”
