INDIA: Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the President of the Wrestler’s Federation of India (WFI), has expressed his willingness to undergo a Narco test in response to the sexual harassment allegations made against him by wrestlers. In a significant development, Singh has requested a polygraph test, with the condition that both Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia also undergo the same test.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) has challenged the protesting wrestlers to take the Narco test, just like he is willing to do.
Singh, who has been the subject of criticism from sports enthusiasts for an extended period, took to Facebook to make a statement. He wrote, “I am prepared to undergo a Narco test, polygraph test, or lie detector test. However, I insist that Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia also undergo the same test simultaneously. If both wrestlers agree to it, we can hold a press conference to announce the decision. I assure them that I am fully prepared for the test. I stand by my words today and pledge to remain steadfast forever. Jai Shri Ram!”
Furthermore, the leader of the saffron party emphasized his unwavering stance on this matter, both presently and in the future. “This is my commitment to the people of my country,” affirmed the President of WFI.
India’s top wrestlers began their protest at Jantar Mantar on April 23 and have continued to sustain it. On April 28, the Delhi Police registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in response to the wrestlers’ complaints of sexual harassment.
The wrestlers have previously hinted at the possibility of taking their protest to Ram Lila ground, aiming to transform it into a “national movement” demanding the resignation of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh from his official position. The protest against the politician has generated significant controversy, leading to the placement of multiple layers of barricades at the city’s borders to prevent violence.
