INDIA: PM Modi inaugurated a new airport on Lingayat Strongman; besides this, he launched several other development initiatives in Karnataka’s Belagavi.
The newly launched lotus-shaped airport was a dream project of former chief minister BS Yediyurappa; thus, on the occasion of his birthday, the air station was set in motion.
The air station is named after Kuvempu and was built on a budget of approximately Rs 450 crore. The new Passenger Terminal Building at the airport is capable of handling 300 passengers per hour.
During the one-day visit to Karnataka, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for Shivamogga, including smart city projects, railway and road projects, and rural water connectivity projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Shivamogga. Apart from this, a mega, nine-kilometre roadshow flagged by a sea of supporters is held for PM Modi.
On the special occasion, the BJP veteran and PM of India took a direct dig at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, saying, “At a recent Congress meeting in Raipur, I observed Kharge ji, the party’s chairman and senior-most leader, standing in the heat while someone else enjoyed the luxury of an umbrella.”
PM Modi also interacted with the citizens of Karnataka and said, “I’d want to bring up how Congress despises Karnataka. It denigrates Karnataka’s leaders. Then, anyone bothering Congress begins insulting them. History demonstrates how S Nijalingappa and Virendra Patil were insulted by the Congress family. Mallikarjun Kharge has my respect.”
He even added on by saying that Congress disrespected the Dalit leader. He even reminded everyone that the legacy of Congress belongs to one family, and Kharge’s election is just an act of demonstration.
