INDIA/VIETNAM: Horasis India Meeting 2022 began today, with delegates convening from across the world to discuss key topics around the continued economic development of both Vietnam and India.
The 50th anniversary of Vietnamese-Indian diplomatic relations was commemorated by the event, which was co-hosted by the Becamex Hotel New City.
The discussion began with India’s response to COVID-19 management and what both nations have learned over the past two years to help inform future decision-making.
The conference began with a round of dialogue sessions, outlining both the Indian new-normal goals post-pandemic and the growing dynamism around Vietnam.
The Chairpeople, Atul Termurnikar Executive Chairman, Global Schools Foundation (Singapore), and Fred Burke, Senior Advisor, Baker & McKenzie (Vietnam), led panel discussions around what future priorities and policies of the Vietnamese and Indian governments should be, both at the national and regional levels.
Panels convened to discuss the current state of India and Vietnam, in particular how they may cooperate and prosper at the same time.
“With bilateral trade growing to $13.2 billion in value last year, both India and Vietnam are finding new ways to mutually benefit from economic growth,” said Richard Rekhy, Board Member of KPMG.
Likewise, Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of Investment Corporation, stated that, given the current makeup of the global economy, “not only businesses but governments must be competitive too” through collaboration and efficiency in implementing government policy.
Horasis India Meeting 2022’s cohosts, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), also met in plenary meetings to discuss how both Vietnam and India can succeed in times of economic uncertainty.
President Sanjiv Bajaj met with key stakeholders from the Vietnamese and Indian industries to outline the best partnerships to form for developing greater economic confidence in the future.
The day rounded off with a closing dinner at which Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of External Affairs (India), spoke about the potential for continued economic prosperity as business and cultural relations between both India and Vietnam became stronger over time.
