Miss Nupe Nigeria 2021: Local TV Presenter Maimuna Muhammad Emerges Winner

The inaugural winner went home with gifts of a brand new Mercedes-Benz C240, a project on girl child education and other humanitarian aids

NIGERIA: Maimuna Muhammad, a local television presenter with “Rukoto TV” has won the maiden edition of 2021 Miss Nupe Nigeria beauty pageant. 

Muhammad who hails from Edati local government area of Niger state became the first winner of Miss Nupe Nigeria. The event was held at the palace of Emir of Bida, Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger state Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, in Bida local government area.

The beauty pageant

According to the organizers of the program, a total of 24 entries were received. Out of which 18 people were shortlisted, the shortlisted persons cut across three states and four local governments areas; eight contestants from Mokwa, Gbako, Edati and Bida had one person each. Kogi and Kwara states also had one contestant each. However, the contestants from Edati and Gbako made it to the final stage of the competition. 

The inaugural winner went home with gifts of a brand new Mercedes-Benz C240, a project on girl child education and other humanitarian aids.

His Royal Highness, Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar expressed his appreciation to the organizers for coming up with such a remarkable venture that is capable of uplifting Nupe culture and the entire kingdom.

“I expressed my heartfelt impression of the successful contest and unique efforts,” Abubakar added.

While talking to Transcontinental Times Muhammad said, “I am so excited because this is the first of its kind in Nupe land and I am lucky to emerge winner.”

Muhammad added that, as the first Miss Nupe Nigeria winner, there is a lot to do and to achieve most importantly for the girl child irrespective of their religious belief.

“There will be a regular orientation to girl child on issues of indecent dressing making sure there are no immoral acts in the Nupe land. I will also try as much as I can to preach and hope to install the olden days culture on every girl child of Nupe origin,” Muhammad assured.

“Issue of girl child education will be keenly looked into,” she added. 

Muhammad, therefore called on all Nupe kingdoms to be united by keeping their differences aside.

“Both Nupe from Niger, Kogi, and Kwara states should see themselves as one to build peace and unity among themselves,” Muhammad said.
