AFRICA. Ghana. Nigeria: Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, was named African Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards this year (VGMAs).
Wizkid, a Nigerian hip-hop multi-talented artiste, won the award at the 23rd edition of the award ceremony held at the Grande Arena Accra International Conference Center in Ghana after a tough competition.
The VGMA, formerly known as the Ghana Music Awards, was founded in 1999 with the goal of honouring and honouring exceptional performers who have contributed to the development of the Ghanaian music industry and beyond.
Stonebwoy, who won the ‘Music for Good’ category, was among the other winners.
According to the event’s organisers, the Nigerian superstar’s triumph as Best African Artiste this year is a significant achievement.
Ghana hosts the VGMA music awards every year. The show was held on May 6 this year. Tems, Ckay, Joeboy, and Fireboy DML are some of the other Nigerian artists who competed with Wizkid for the number one spot.
