UNITED STATES: WhatsApp, a popular messaging app owned by Meta, has launched an integrated safety campaign called ‘Stay Safe with WhatsApp’ to promote digital safety and raise awareness about the app’s safety features. The campaign is aimed at educating users about WhatsApp’s in-built product features and safety tools that can help protect them from online scams, frauds, and account-compromising threats.

The ‘Stay Safe with WhatsApp’ campaign is focused on promoting digital safety and educating users about the various safety features available within the app. The campaign highlights the importance of safeguarding WhatsApp accounts and provides users with tools and resources to help them do so. • Two-Step Verification: By using the Two-Step Verification feature, which requires a six-digit PIN when resetting and validating your WhatsApp account, users of WhatsApp can add a layer of security to their account. If a SIM card is stolen or the phone is compromised, this capability is useful.
  • Block and Report: Users of WhatsApp can ‘block and report’ questionable accounts in a straightforward manner. You won’t get calls or text messages from blocked contacts or numbers. Users can utilise this feature to safeguard themselves against unsolicited messages or spam.
  • Privacy Settings: Users have control over their personal information, including their profile photo, who may see it, last seen, online status, and status. When people wish to keep their online presence private, they can also manage it by choosing who can and cannot see them when they’re online.
  • Group Privacy Settings: Users can choose who can add them to groups using WhatsApp’s privacy settings and group invitation system, boosting user privacy and preventing people from adding them to groups they do not want to be a part of.

The campaign is aimed at driving user awareness around WhatsApp’s safety tools and product features that can help keep users safe from online scams and fraud. Shivnath Thukral, Director, of Public Policy India, Meta, said, “User safety is at the core of everything we do at WhatsApp,” highlighting the company’s commitment to user safety.

Conclusion

In conclusion, WhatsApp’s ‘Stay Safe with WhatsApp’ campaign is an important initiative aimed at promoting digital safety and raising awareness about the various safety features available within the app. The campaign provides users with tools and resources to help them safeguard their accounts and protect themselves from online scams and frauds.
