NORWAY/UNITED KINGDOM: The three most recent teams to qualify for UEFA EURO 2024 are Spain, Scotland, and Türkiye. Spain’s 1-0 victory against Norway secured both Scotland’s and Türkiye’s spots, while Türkiye’s 4-0 victory against Latvia earned them both a spot.
With two games remaining, Gavi’s victory goal in Oslo ensured Spain’s qualification for EURO 2024 and put an end to Norway’s chances of placing in the top two. When the Barcelona midfielder scored four minutes after the interval as part of a pressure spell, La Roja added accuracy to their slickness after dominating possession during the first half.
The goal was enough to advance the three-time winners to an eighth consecutive EURO championship. Scotland also qualified as a result of the outcome.
With a flurry of goals against a courageous Latvian team, Türkiye scored late to clinch qualifying for EURO 2024. A beautiful volley by Yunus Akgün just before the hour mark got the home team going, and after Jānis Ikaunieks of Latvia had a header pushed off the line and hit the crossbar with another, Cenk Tosun came off the substitute to score twice.
His goals, which were scored in his 50th appearance, came to either side of a skillful Kerem Aktürkolu goal, with the last three goals occurring in the span of six minutes.
Wales improved their chances of qualifying for EURO 2024 with a deserved victory in Cardiff. In the 47th minute, Harry Wilson scored the game’s first goal after latching onto David Brooks’ through ball and deftly flicking the ball past Dominik Livakovic.
On the hour mark, Wilson added another goal by glancing in a cross from Daniel James. Mario Pašalić, a substitute, headed into Luka Modric’s corner with 15 minutes left to play to cut the deficit, but Wales held on to earn the three points.
