INDIA: Ahead of Dussehra, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri unveiled his upcoming film, “Parva.” This movie is an adaptation of S. L. Bhyrappa’s book of the same name and it will be a grand three-part franchise.
Agnihotri made the announcement of his upcoming film via his social media handles. He posted a poster of the movie on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Big announcement: Is Mahabharat history or mythology? We, at @i_ambuddha are grateful to the almighty to be presenting Padma Bhushan Dr SL Bhyrappa’s ‘modern classic’: PARVA – AN EPIC TALE OF DHARMA. There is a reason why PARVA is called ‘Masterpiece of masterpieces’.”
Vivek Agnihotri is the man in the director’s chair and he will also serve as the writer of the film. His wife, National Awardee actor Pallavi Joshi, is bankrolling “Parva,” while Prakash Belawadi will pen the screenplay. Agnihotri also shared a video clip to explain the film, stating, “What is ‘Parva’? Watch.”
In the video, he is heard saying, “It’s said that Mahabharat is the source of all stories. Is it just mythology or India’s consciousness? The question remains: is it history or mythology? After researching for 17 years, Padma Bhushan winning SL Bhyrappa wrote a modern classic, Parva. It’s called a masterpiece of masterpieces.“
“The book has been translated into many languages, including English, Russian, Chinese, and Sanskrit. It has been a best-seller in all languages. We are proud and happy that he has given us the responsibility to bring the story to the big screen. Parva: An epic tale of dharma will be out in three parts, and the production work has begun,” he added.
Vivek’s most recent release was “The Vaccine War,” featuring notable actors like Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, Sapthami Gowda, and Pallavi Joshi. The movie received a somewhat subdued response at the box office.
Vivek Agnihotri was recently honoured with the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film in the National Integration category for his 2022 release, “The Kashmir Files.”
