INDIA. Mumbai: Indian Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday. The 92-year-old veteran singer was diagnosed with COVID-19 and is currently undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU).
According to the sources, the doctors are closely monitoring her situation as she dealing with other age-related issues as well. In November 2019, Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital for breathing complications due to a viral infection.
India’s commercial capital, Mumbai is witnessing a drastic increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. As per the reports, 90% of the COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic and only 4-5% are being of them are being hospitalized. The number of serious cases is negligible. However, adequate hospital beds, oxygen supply, ventilators, medicines, and ICU facilities are available.

Mangeshkar has been at the forefront to help those in need in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. From participating in virtual concerts for raising money for the underprivileged to donate generously for relief funds, Mangeshkar has been doing humanitarian works. Last year, Bharat Ratna Mangeshkar contributed Rs 700,000 to Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for taking up COVID-19 related works.
The melodic voice of Lata Mangeshkar is known to everyone. The Indian music industry is incomplete without her voice. Mangeshkar has been a part of the Bollywood industry for seven decades. She has lent her voice to thousands of songs in more than 1,000 Bollywood movies.
Along with this, she has sung for various regional and foreign movies. On the career front. Mangeshkar’s last song “Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki” was released in 2021. As a token of her hard work, the singer was awarded several prestigious awards including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and many National awards.
