INDIA: Varun Dhawan gears up for his OTT debut! Bollywood star is set to embark on a new global adventure under The Russo Brother’s creative vision. The actor joins the Indian instalment of the Citadel universe put forth by Avengers: End Game fame filmmakers.
Besides Varun Dhawan leading the series, another new update has arrived, including the showrunners and the OTT platform, which will stream the upcoming show.
Talking about Citadel, it’s a forthcoming sci-fi series developed under the creative vision of Patrick Moran. Marvel fame The Russo Brothers also serve as the creators of the show besides Patrick. The series is set to star Game of Thrones fame Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
The sci-fi spy thriller is gearing up to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Patrick Moran and The Russo Brothers have aimed a brief vision for the Citadel universe that includes multiple spinoffs set in India, Mexico, and Spain.
Varun Dhawan is set to lead the Indian spinoff of Citadel universe
Now, Varun Dhawan is set to feature in the Indian instalment of Citadel universe. The title of the show is yet to be confirmed. The Russo Brothers announced the news on their Instagram handle.
The filmmaker duo wrote, “We are thrilled to officially announce that we will be bringing you the Indian instalment of the Citadel universe. The local Original spy series will start filming in January 2023. @rajanddk @d2r_films @agbofilms @primevideo @primevideoin @amazonstudios @mensit @varundn.”
According to the caption penned by The Russo Brothers, the Indian spinoff of Citadel universe will be a local original spy series. The title is set to commence its filming in January 2023. In addition to the series info, the makers also unveiled the first look of Varun Dhawan from the upcoming series.
The key visual features the Bollywood star in a gripping look donning a jacket, jeans, and a black t-shirt. The actor is seen with stylish hair and a beard that adds a more serious look to the poster.
In the background, the Taj hotel is also spotted, and if we look for every detail, the Gateway of India is also present in the poster. Given all the poster elements, it can be speculated that the spy series will deal with the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks.
In addition to Varun Dhawan joining as the lead, the Indian spinoff of the Citadel series adds a prominent name from Bollywood. The Family Man fame filmmaker duo Raj & DK will provide their directorial vision to the series. Sita R. Menon will pen the script along with the director duo.
Raj & DK expressed their excitement about working under the creative vision of The Russo Brothers. The filmmaker duo also penned a message on Twitter regarding the series.
They also remarked that the upcoming show will be a unique spy story featuring the incredibly talented Varun Dhawan. They further penned that it is utterly amazing to work in the international event series created by The Russo Brothers.
In addition to the lead stars and showrunners, no further details have been disclosed by the makers. Earlier, multiple reports hinted that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will also appear in the series. However, no confirmation is made by the creators, thus leaving the actress’ involvement in the show under mystery.
