UNITED STATES: The U.S. is now averaging 100,000 new COVID-19 cases per day. The last time U.S. had this amount of cases was during the winter and it shows that now the delta variant has spread quite rapidly in the country. In June U.S. was having about 11,000 Covid-19 cases per day but now the number is 107,143.
U.S. was getting about 100,000 Covid-19 cases in November whereas in January they had over 250,000 Covid-19 cases. The situation got under control in June but it took about six weeks to go back above 100,000 cases, even after 70% of the adult population got vaccinated.
The main reason the virus is spreading so quickly is because a large number of people are still not vaccinated and the reason behind it is that most of the hospitals have been overrun with patients. The doctors and health officials also said that the cases won’t decrease if the citizens of U.S. doesn’t take the Covid-19 vaccine.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Rochelle Walensky said that “Our models show that if we don’t (vaccinate people), we could be up to several hundred thousand cases a day, similar to our surge in early January”.

Health authority for the Houston Health Department and EMS medical director, Dr. David Persse said, “The health care system right now is nearly at a breaking point … For the next three weeks or so, I see no relief on what’s happening in emergency departments’. He also added that, ‘Last weekend an 11-month-old girl who was suffering from COVID-19 was transported on Thursday from Houston to a hospital 274 kilometers away in Temple because of the lack of beds available in the city”.
The number of Covid-19 cases are so high in the U.S. that the hospitals are running out of beds and because of this some patients are transferred out of the city to get the required medical attention.
