UNITED STATES: The Pentagon has condemned Fox News host Tucker Carlson for ridiculing the efforts of supporting female soldiers. One of the most popular hosts on the network, Carlson attacked the measures taken by the military for female soldiers during his Tuesday program. He demeaned the US female military by saying, “Pregnant women are going to fight our wars, it’s a mockery of the US military”.
Carlson ridiculed President Joe Biden for extending his support towards making it easier and safer for women to join and stay in the military.
Carlson, who hosts the conservative network’s highest-rated program, has used his show to deride military maternity flight suits and recent updates to Army and Air Force hair regulations that the president mentioned.
Carlson opined, “While China’s military becomes more masculine as it’s assembled the world’s largest navy, our military, as Joe Biden says, needs to become more feminine,” only to make more wrong statements for the sake of opposing the ruling government and under the pretense of having conservative sentiments.
Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby rebuked the commentator and hoped he would realize his mistake and express some regret about the manner in which he so conveniently passed demeaning comments, putting down the entire U.S. military. He added that Pentagon would not take military advice from Carlson in any case.

Reflecting on the misogynistic incident
Amid this controversy, there is something we might be missing. Why the news is loathsome is that firstly, the comment is coming from a very progressive and well-qualified journalist, somebody we’d least expect it from. This reminds us that a man of social status can also be misogynistic.
Secondly, prejudice against women progressing can happen at any level, nationally and globally on television too. What is more disappointing is that even in today’s society, sexism is happening at multiple levels, moreover, in a developed nation like America! This will continue to happen, as much as we would want to be convinced otherwise. Like it is said, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The only way out is by beginning to voice against such misogyny.
