INDIA: Luv Ranjan’s much-awaited rom-com Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) received a grand opening of Rs 15.73 crore on the first day of release. It appears that the colorful festival of Holi worked in favor of the film as nitezens enjoyed their holiday watching the movie.
Comparing it to Luv Ranjan’s last directorial, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, the movie did a favorable business. Hence, the fresh pair of Ranbir and Shraddha attracted the attention of the audience.
TJMM also marked the acting debut of director Boney Kapoor. Besides this, the rom-com has Dimple Kapadia and Anubhav Singh Bassi in the lead roles.
Talking about TJMM’s Day 2 collection, it’s at Rs 10.34 crore, which is almost Rs 5 crore less than its previous day’s collection. Hence, the total collection now stands at Rs 26.07 crore.
According to multiple box office stats, on day two, TJMM sank by 35%. Reports also claim with a full holiday and widespread benefits, this decline would have been quite favorable, but with a partial holiday, it is on the higher side.
As per film critic and box office analyst Taran Adarsh, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar maintains the grip on Day 2… A 34.27% decline on a working day – after a holiday – was inevitable… Biz should start moving from Fri [evening] onwards, with Sat-Sun giving that extra boost… Wed 15.73 cr, Thu 10.34 cr. Total: ₹ 26.07 cr. #India biz. #TJMM.”
Looking forward to the weekend, the expected ropes of high hopes have been planted amongst the audience, and the real test of the box office collection will be revealed on Monday.
The chemistry between Shraddha and Ranbir is extremely refreshing to watch. Besides the fact that Luv Ranjan’s movies never fail to impress the masses in the cinema hall, the new generation love story is appreciated by cinephiles, and many have praised the movie for its comic timing.
On the professional front, Ranbir will next be seen in Sandeep Reddy Wanga’s Animal. Whereas Shraddha will soon begin her shooting for Stree 2.
