UNITED STATES: Thor: Love and Thunder mark the 4th installment in the Thor saga, making it the only MCU superhero film to receive more than a set from the trilogy, besides the upcoming Captain America 4.

Synopsis:

Thor is shown on a quest for self-discovery in the teaser, indicating that the god of thunder is no longer in his Hero phase. We will see him in his leisure period, where he will come across Gorr the God Butcher, who is on the point of exacting his retribution on all gods. Thor, Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie will set out on a mission to end Gorr’s murderous rampage.

Classic Thor outfit from the comics

Thor can be seen running through the woods in the teaser, displaying every aspect of his superhuman persona.

Among all of the incarnations displayed, Thor’s classic look stands out. The appearance of the winged helmet and the comics’ red and blue outfit in a live-action version was surprising. Previously, Captain America’s suit in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was comic-accurate. Now, Thor’s classic look suggests that phase Four will be loaded with similar costumes, whether in full-fledged form or as easter eggs.

The teaser also features a stunning sight of Thor standing in front of a mutilated beast. This scene is directly adapted from the 2012 Marvel comic Thor: God of Thunder, and the dead beast we see in the teaser is a god known as Falligar the Behemoth. Since the film will depict Gorr on a murdering spree of all the gods in the Marvel universe, the comic served as the basis for the film. Though the film will not only be based on the Thor: God of Thunder but also the 2015 comic book The Mighty Thor.

The arrival of Zeus in MCU

A glimpse of Olympus is shown in the teaser, with Zeus wielding a lightning bolt-like weapon. Russell Crowe plays Zeus, and this isn’t the first time he’s portrayed a character from a comic book. He previously portrayed Jor-El in Zack Synder’s 2013 film Man of Steel. He’ll also be seen in the next Kraven the Hunter film, which will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character.

The teaser concludes with Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor wielding the Mjolnir. The cracks in the Mjolnir suggest that it is the same Mjolnir that Hela broke at the start of Thor: Ragnarok. The arrival of the Guardians of the Galaxy will drive Thor on a straightforward quest to reveal his true identity as Ravager Thor.

The teaser’s music is Guns N Roses Sweet Child O Mine, which complements the film’s established tone. Thor: Love and Thunder are all set to enter theatres on July 8, 2022, and it will be thrilling to see how the story concludes.
