The Kerala Story: Adah Sharma’s Film Rules the Box Office on Day 3

INDIA: The irresistible craze of Sudipto Sen’s directorial, The Kerala Story, is touching sky heights. Since the trailer release of the film, it has generated massive controversies, but surprisingly the feature shocked the box office with its debut on May 5, 2023.

The box office report of the Adah Sharma starrer film is officially out. Given the stats, the movie has done phenomenal business at the weekend.

Film analyst Taran Adarsh shared a poster of the movie and applauded the movie’s breaking records. 

He wrote, “#TheKeralaStory is UNSTOPPABLE and UNSHAKABLE… PHENOMENAL biz on Days 2 and 3 makes it a SMASH-HIT… Withstands two mighty opponents: #Hollywood film #GotGVol3 and #IPL2023… Fri 8.03 cr, Sat 11.22 cr, Sun 16 cr. According to Taran Adarsh, The Kerala Story earned Rs 8.03 crores on its debut day. Following the excellent run on day 1, the movie bagged Rs 11. 22 crores on day 2. On day 3, the movie earned twice its day 1 collection and stood firmly at Rs 16 crores at the domestic box office.

Given the humongous collection of The Kerela Story, the total collection now stands at Rs 35.25 crores in India on a reported budget of Rs 40 crores.

The film release clashed with Hollywood biggie Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Despite the Marvel film’s craze, The Kerala Story collection remained untarnished. The film was declared tax-free in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Whereas the theatres in Tamil Nadu stopped the screening of the movie.

The Kerala Story features Adah Sharma, Yogina Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani in key roles. The film showcases the story of the terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) forcing religious conversions on young females in the Indian state of Kerala. The radicalised ladies were subsequently sent to Afghanistan and Syria.
