UNITED STATES: The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was released in theatres on March 4, 2022. Since then, it has sparked interest in the Cape Crusader’s universe, resulting in a big box-office triumph. The film has raked in over half a billion dollars from the moment it was released.

Matt Reeve’s The Batman currently has a $500 million box office lead ahead of its third weekend in US theatres and international premieres. The film was made on a $185-$200 million budget and based on box office receipts, it is on track to earn a respectable sum among DC films. Even though it is the first DC film to be released this year, it has been a strong start for the WB studios.

Can it hit the $1 Billion benchmark?

According to Deadline, The Batman has amassed $505.8 million in worldwide collections, including $258 million in the United States and $247 million in other countries. This is a promising start, but compared to other films like Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has surpassed the $1 billion mark in the same time frame, The Batman has still had to cover a lot of ground.

Batman’s biggest flaw is its release in China, widely regarded as the most important market for Hollywood films. COVID’s rise has resulted in a slew of restrictions for movie theatres. As a result, Batman’s box office performance in China has been disappointing.

Batman’s release in India is likewise a critical factor in the box office. It has grossed a total of ₹ 33.9 crore, which is a respectable sum. The majority of the collection comes from India’s English release. Though it did well in its first week, the release of The Kashmir Files, which has been on a record-breaking run, has dampened the cape crusader’s performance in India.

Matt Reeves takes on Cape crusader maintains the darker, grittier, and more serious tone that suits Batman in his early investigative days, going across the superhero version of David Fincher’s Se7en (1995). The neo-noir vigilante theme has a long runtime of almost 3 hours. The runtime is also a significant impact, resulting in fewer shows.
