INDIA: BJP leader Kapilavai Dileep Kumar recently accused Telangana Minister Jagadish Reddy of purportedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct during the campaign for the Munugode bypoll.
Jagadish Reddy is an MLA under the K Chandrashekar Rao-led Cabinet, holding the portfolio of Energy. According to Kapilavai’s accusation, Jagadish Reddy threatened to put an end to all welfare schemes if candidates didn’t cast a vote for the TRS candidate. Thus, EC issued a notice against the Telangana MLA.
During his Munugode bypoll campaign, Jagadish Reddy forced everyone to listen to him when he said, “The election is not between Kusukuntla Prabhakar and Rajgopal Reddy; it is an election about whether to continue the Rs.2000 pension or not, whether to continue Rythu Bandhu or not, whether to continue 24-hour free current or not, whether to continue the Rs.3000 pension for physically challenged people or not.”
”People who want the scheme to continue should vote for CAR and possibly support KCR. Modi Ji said no to 3000 pensions, while KCR stated he would certainly award them. If you don’t care about pensions, vote for Modi; if you care about schemes, go for KCR,” Jagadish Reddy added further.
On November 3, voting will take place, and on November 6, three days later, the results will be announced. There will likely be a struggle between JP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, and Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi.
However, the Telangana Minister broke the MCC’s rules by making his divisive remarks. This led to a full justification from his side until 3 p.m. on October 29; otherwise, a decision would be made without further consideration of him.
Pilot Rohith Reddy, a TRS MLA, claimed that three individuals pressured him to quit TRS for BJP in exchange for the pay of Rs 100 crore, Central government contracts, and positions. In addition to registering an FIR at the Moinabad Police Station, they reportedly threatened him with criminal proceedings and ED and CBI raids if he did not join the BJP.
