INDIA: Good news for Indian anime fans! Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night is set to arrive in Indian theatres. PVR Cinemas’ official website has listed the anime movie for release in India. According to the website, the action-packed anime title is scheduled for release on February 3, 2022.
For the unknown, Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night follows Reki Kawahara’s manga series of the same title. The basic plot premise of the title includes multiple players struck in a virtual reality game. The series lands as the most popular title in the Isekai genre (A type of anime in which the main character is teleported to another world filled with enigmatic elements.)
Sword Art Online Progressive 2 joined the film series as a sequel
Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night lands as a sequel to Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night. The first installment in the franchise arrived in Japanese theatres on October 30, 2021. Following the first part, the sequel was set to release in Japan on September 10, 2022, but it was postponed to October 22, 2022.
Ayako Kono returned to add the directorial vision in Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night. The anime feature’s voice cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito, Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna, Inori Minase as Mito, Kaede Hondo as Litten, and Yusuke Kobayashi as Morte.
Reki Kawahara penned the story, and Yukito Kizawa handed the screenplay for Sword Art Online Progressive 2. Yuki Oshima joined the team as a cinematographer, and Kiyoshi Hirose added the editorial touch. Shintarou Kawakami, Kaoru Adachi, Yousuke Futami, Keisuke Hirai and Masami Niwa bankrolled the movie under the banner of A-1 Pictures.
In September 2022, Sword Art Online Progressive 2 also bagged a musical promotional video with the voice of Yuki Kajiura. Eir Aoi also provided the film’s theme song Shinzo.
This year has been flooded with many anime titles, which initiated with Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and accelerated with Dragon Ball Super: Superhero’s release in Japanese, Hindi, and English. Following the Dragon Ball movie, One Piece Film: Red arrived in Indian theatres in Hindi and Japanese.
Now, Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night will be released on February 2023, kickstarting the upcoming year with another major anime title.
