JAPAN: The release date of Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk is nearing, and ahead of the debut, the makers have unveiled the theme song trailer. The opening song takes us on a magical ride blended with soothing music and fantastic visuals.
Sword Art Online Progressive 2 is based on Reki Kawahara’s light novel series of the same name. Debuted in 2012, the novel series depicted the retelling of original novels.
The Sword Art Online series focuses on the various players who are trapped in a virtual reality MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). The series’ unique concept and fantasy theme, combined with a sci-fi element, propels it on a phenomenal roller coaster filled with spectacular animation.
The anime feature was earlier scheduled to be released on September 10, 2022, but on Tuesday, the release date was pushed back to October 22, 2022. The official website of Sword Art Online shared the update regarding the release date. The advance screening, which was supposed to take place on August 24, was also postponed.
Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night served as the first instalment in the anime movie franchise. Ayako Kono’s directorial movie opened in Japanese theatres on October 30, 2021.
The movie topped the box office at its opening weekend in Japan. Now, Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk emerges as a sequel to Aria of a Starless Night.
Ayako Kona returned to direct the sequel film. Kento Toya also joined the team as chief animation director. Yasuyuki Kai served as the action director for the upcoming movie. Kajiura Yuki provided the music, and Eir Aoi performed the theme song of the anime feature.
A-1 Pictures and SAO-P Project bankrolled Sword Art Online Progressive: Scherzo of a Dark Dusk. Aniplex will distribute the upcoming anime film. The original cast members of the first movie will also return for the sequel.
