JAPAN: Makoto Shinkai fans, get ready to witness the cinematic anime feature in IMAX. Yes, you read it correctly! Suzume No Tojimari (Suzume’s Locking-Up), plus three more films from the visionary Japanese director, are ready for IMAX screenings in Japan.
Suzume No Tojimari’s visually stunning animation and intriguing story elements have captivated many moviegoers with the trailer’s release. Furthermore, since it is Makoto Shinkai’s film, the level of excitement among viewers is obvious. The director has captured the imagination of fans with magical features added to his filming repertoire, including the highly popular Your Name, Graden of Words, Weathering with You, and 5 Centimeters per Second.
Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume No Tojimari and three more films will release in IMAX
Now, the official website of Suzume No Tojimari has shared an update on the film. According to the information, the latest Makoto Shinkai movie will be screened in IMAX. The special screening of the film will be premiered on the same day as the regular screening, i.e., November 11, 2022.
Along with Suzume No Tojimari, three more Makoto Shinkai movies will be screened in IMAX in order to celebrate the latest film from the director. Your Name, Weathering With You, and 5 Centimeters Per Second will also premiere in IMAX. All three films will be released in 41 theatres in Japan on September 30, 2022.
Makoto Shinkai’s directorial Suzume no Tojimari emerges as the first film from the director in the last three years. In addition to direction, Shinkai has also penned the story for the adventure film. CoMix Wave Films bankrolled the movie, and Toho will distribute the upcoming anime feature.
The Suzume no Tojimari voice cast includes Nanoka Hara as Suzume Iwato. The film marks Hara’s first voice-acting role in an anime feature. The actress auditioned for the role alongside 1700 other candidates and finally landed the leading position.
Hokuto Matsumura, a SixTones idol group member, will also voice the anime character for the first time. The famed singer will voice Sota Munakata in the upcoming anime feature.
Like every other Shinkai film, the trailer revealed very little about the storyline. Following the official clip, it appears that the anime feature assures a cinematic ride arriving at theatres.
