INIDA: SS Rajamouli’s RRR recently made history by bagging Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12. However, reportedly, the RRR director paid a whopping amount of $25,000 (roughly Rs. 20 lakhs) for the team to witness the proud moment.
As per reports, except for composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose, every head counted on the award night had to pay the amount. Reports also claim that the entire amount is paid by Rajamouli for his team members.
Accordingly, only those who are nominated for the Oscars are eligible for the free pass, and RRR’s “Naatu Naatu” won an Oscar for Best Original Song. Free passes were available for MM Keeravani, the RRR’s music composer, and Chandrabose, its lyricist, as they were nominated.
However, some RRR fans even showed their discomfort on social media with the Academy Awards organizers for giving the team the last row in the hall. A video from the Oscars made rounds all over the internet, showing MM Keeravani and Chandrabose seated in the front row along with the other Oscar nominees, whereas the rest of the RRR team was reportedly given seats in the last row.
SS Rajamouli attended the prestigious award ceremony with his wife Rama Rajamouli, son Karthikeya, and daughter-in-law. On the other hand, Ram Charan came along with his pregnant wife Upasana and Jr. NTR also attended the show with his wife Lakshmi Pranathi. The actors gave many interviews at the award function, where they expressed their happiness.
RRR’s storyline is based upon the lives of two freedom fighters, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, played by Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris in lead roles.
