INDIA: The king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, is the pride of the Hindi film industry and has a global fandom. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has become the only Indian named in Empire magazine’s list of ’50 Greatest Actors of All Time’.
The renowned magazine had previously asked readers to vote for their favourite best actors of all time, “the silver-screen stars that always deliver, that have changed the game, and whose distinctive talents can never be replicated.”
The DDLJ actor stands firmly alongside Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Viola Davis, Robert De Niro, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Portman, and Heath Ledger, among others on the list.
Some favourite cult roles of SRK were mentioned in the magazine, including Devdas Mukherjee (Devdas), Rizwan Khan (My Name Is Khan), Rahul Khanna (Kuch Kuch Hota Hain), and Mohan Bhargava (Swades). Featuring the Indian actor in the magazine, they wrote, “Ms Marvel’s favourite movie star has a career that has now spanned four decades of near unbroken hits and a fanbase of pretty much billions. You don’t do that without outrageous amounts of charisma and absolute mastery of your craft. Comfortable in almost every genre, there’s nothing he can’t do.”
Sharing the news with the world, Pooja Dadlani, Shah Rukh Khan’s manager, took to her Instagram to share a snap of SRK’s feature and wrote, “@imsrk on the Empire list of 50 greatest actors of all time… the only Indian… doing us proud always! (high-five emoji)”
