INDIA: URI: The Surgical Strike’s famed director Aditya Dhar, is gearing up for his next big-scale movie, The Immortal Ashwatthama. However, details of the film are kept under wraps; the makers are still searching for a pan-India star for the film.
Previously, Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal were approached for the Ashwatthama, and the Bajirao Mastani actor was almost locked for the movie. However, as per reports, the production house wants to cast a bigger star.
Earlier, reports suggested that Jr NTR and Ram Charan are being considered for the Ashwatthama. Now, Shah Rukh Khan has joined the race. The makers are yet to decide on their hero for the Ashwatthama. Aditya’s ambitious epic will soon have a big name amongst these three.
If reports are to be believed, Allu Arjun was also approached for the Ashwatthama. Talking about the high-scale project, Aditya Dhar’s directorial Uri cost just Rs 25 crore rupees to produce and technically, the film appeared to have a budget of Rs 100 crores.
Aditya has mastered the art of less is more, which explains why his debut film was high in every aspect despite a low budget. Additionally, a reliable source disclosed, “Oh, that was Aditya Dhar after Uri. His priorities have altered as of late. He now not only thinks but also spends big.”
As per reports, Dhar was previously working within a limited budget, but now he seems to be pushing his limits and working on sci-fi projects like Ayan Mukherjee and various other next-gen directors.
Aditya talking about the film, said, “I’m afraid that having a limitless budget will make me a lazy filmmaker. I’d rather operate within strict budget constraints. As a filmmaker, my goal is to make a film look bigger and more spectacular than its budget would suggest.”
“I want to spend Rs 30 crores. But it should appear like a Rs 150 crore film. In Uri, we worked under really tight budgetary constraints, which was beneficial. Because it kept us always alert and concerned. Anxiety, I believe, is a significant drive for productivity and creativity,” he added.
The filmmaker giving a hint about his upcoming film The Immortal Ashwatthama, said, “The world in this film will be totally different from URI, however, in actual space. Yes, it is based on another actual event. That’s all I have to say to you.“
“Of course, I can also inform you that Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP production company will also produce my upcoming movie. Ronnie and Vicky Kaushal stood up for Uri and believed in it, so I wouldn’t be silly to reevaluate my priorities in that light,” he concluded.
