RUSSIA: Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine is around 83% effective against the Delta variant. “The efficiency is found to be lower than previously thought,” Murashko said on Wednesday.

The Russian authorities have blamed a surge in COVID-19 cases on the more contagious Delta variant. “The citizen’s reluctance to get vaccinated has resulted in a surge in COVID-19 cases in June and July despite shots being widely available,” the authorities said.
