INDIA: In the upcoming movie “Double XL,” Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is set to appear as a performer for the cameras with Bollywood actresses Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi.
Double XL, starring Sonakshi and Huma, is in the headlines for all the right reasons. It shows the journey of two plus-size women as they negotiate social norms around beauty: Rajshree Trivedi (Qureshi) from Meerut and Saira Khanna (Sinha) from New Delhi.
Huma Qureshi looks stunning in an off-the-shoulder pink gown that she accessorised with chic jewellery, a half-up hairstyle, and off-the-shoulder makeup. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, looks dapper in a suit. Another unguarded photograph captures the two laughing together. “Cat is out of the bag,” Huma captioned the image.
Speaking about his role, Shikhar Dhawan said, “Life is incredibly hectic when you’re an athlete competing for your country. The watching of fascinating movies is one of my favourite pastimes. It had a significant influence on me.”
Shikhar Dhawan added that the movie aims to transmit a positive message and has the potential to start a conversation, saying, “This is a great message for the entire society, and I hope a lot of young ladies and guys will keep chasing their aspirations no matter what.”
Regarding the movie, Huma tweeted, “When Rajshri from Meerut and Saira from Delhi found each other, it was time for double trouble. Be prepared for double the fun. Double the excitement. Double the entertainment.”
The slice-of-life comedy-drama, directed by Satramm Ramani, which questions body weight norms, also features Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra as the male leads.
The movie “Double XL,” which is being produced by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, Wakaoo Films, and Mudassar Aziz, is scheduled to premiere on November 4, 2022.
