INDIA: Kamal Haasan fans, the wait is finally over! S. Shankar’s much-awaited film Indian 2 continues filming today. The Tamil Superstar joined the shooting after the film’s production completed its two-years hiatus.
The Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2 lands as another intriguing notion set to unfold on big screens. Serving as a sequel to Indian (1996), the upcoming film marks the return of the Tamil Superstar as Senapathy, a vigilante who hunts corrupt citizens of the country.
S. Shankar’s Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan, continues filming after two years of hiatus
The Tamil superstar announced the resumption of the film shooting on Twitter. The tweet read, “#Indian2 from today. @Udhaystalin @shankarshanmugh @LycaProductions @RedGiantMovies_.”
Kamal Haasan also posted photos of him along with filmmaker S. Shankar. The Tamil Superstar also uploaded a video that showcased both the actor and the director discussing the film. The iconic background score of Indian (1996) also tunes in the latest clip.
Kamal Haasan posted on Twitter about the continuation of the Indian 2 filming. The actor tweeted, “Filming for #Indian2 from September. Wishing team @shankarshanmugh, #Subaskaran, @LycaProductions and everyone else involved a successful journey. Welcome onboard thambi @Udhaystalin @RedGiantMovies_”
The filming of Indian 2 has been at a halt for the past two years. Finally, the much-awaited movie has now started its shooting after a long hiatus. In addition to Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal also joined the team recently, where the actress confirmed her return by posting a horse-riding video of her on Twitter.
S. Shankar’s directorial Indian 2 stars Kamal Haasan as the iconic vigilante at the forefront. Kajal Aggarwal is also set to appear as the female lead in the film. The action feature also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Gulshan Grover, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in pivotal roles.
Besides directing the film, Shankar also penned the story along with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Lyca Productions’ Subaskaran Allirajah and Red Giant Movies’ Udhayanidhi Stalin bankrolled the vigilante action movie.
In addition to Indian 2, Shankar is also simultaneously filming the Ram Charan-starrer RC15. The political thriller film also stars Kiara Advani and S. J. Suryah in prominent roles.
