‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ has revealed its additional cast members. The upcoming American superhero film is based on the Marvel Comics character Shang-Chi.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is based on a screenplay by David Callaham. A film based on Shang-Chi has been in development since 2001, but things began to take shape only in 2018 with the hiring of Callaham. Cretton joined in early 2019, with the project fast-tracked to be Marvel’s first film with an Asian lead.
Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
The film’s cast also includes Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Additionally, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng appear in the upcoming movie.
Production has just wrapped for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the fantastic cast looks set to bring the film to life. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be in theaters on July 9th, 2021.
The was originally scheduled to be released on February 12, 2021, the first day of the Chinese New Year, before it was shifted to May 7, 2021, and then to the July 2021 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is a part of Phase Four of the MCU.
