INDIA: The non-chronological movie Shamshera acquires a passive response from cinephiles. The high-budget film goes flat on weekends and accumulates average business in 3 days. The action thriller movie had a lot to do on screen but failed to match up to the expectations of the audience. Shows have been cancelled in different theatres due to lack of cineaste. The Karan Malhotra directorial movie is an approachable theatrical disaster at the box office. The film managed to gather Rs 32 crore in total. Multiplexes remained featureless instead of going houseful.

The movie kicked off with a poor starting of Rs. 10.25cr and remained dull on Saturdays and Sundays, the days when usually movies do exceptionally well on doing good business. The weekend gathering barely stretched to Rs. 10.75 to 11.25 crore.

This movie marked Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback after four long years since the release of ‘Sanju’. The audience roped high hopes from the actor, primarily because of his dual role in Shamshera. RK, in the lead, managed to work precisely but failed in the screenplay race. Regarding the co-actors, Vaani Kapoor essayed the role of both the protagonist’s girlfriend and wife, which worked pretty well, if not excellent. On the other hand, Sanjay Dutt, the real insane villain, continues the same scale of acting as he does in KGF 2 and Agneepath.

The movie could work even more if people couldn’t find it similar to the Tollywood hit movies like Bahubali and KGF. Even the costume and makeup of Vanni Kapoor are so contemporary that people assume it is a movie based on today’s life. Shamshera is a periodic movie focusing more on the cast discrimination with no real validation. The graphics and visuals are remarkable, but the dialogues are overrated and lengthy, which makes no sense. People nowadays are more inclined towards non-fiction movies or movies with historical evidence.

The following colossal movie failed to entertain mass audiences due to its poor screenplay and dialogues. The movie could precisely work well if released a decade back. The YRF film is predicted to suffer a huge loss conspicuously with Shamshera as the box office results are not great. This would be YRF’s third flop after Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Samrat Prithviraj. But it seems YRF will make a massive comeback with SRK’s upcoming release ‘Pathan’, which is scheduled to release in 2023.
