INDIA: The 90s generation first saw our desi superhero, which emerged as a popular show in India before Marvel and DC. Since the live-action Shaktimaan news first surfaced, the Indian superhero community skyrocketed with excitement.
In India, big-budget movies are becoming a norm, and Shaktimaan falls under that category. Amar Ujala adds that heavy visual effects will be used to create our Desi Superhero. Additionally, it is rumoured that the movie’s budget will exceed 200 crores.
Our Desi superhero captivated the generation of the ’90s
Shaktimaan was an Indian action superhero TV show created by Mukesh Khanna and Dinker Jani that aired on DD National from 1997 to 2005, which captured the craze of the younger generation at that time, especially it was a widely celebrated phenomenon among the 90s kids.
The show’s ensemble cast included:
Mukesh Khanna as Shaktimaan and Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shashtri, Kitu Gidwani, and Vaishnavi Mahant as Geeta Vishwas, Surendar Pal as Tamraj Kilvish and Guru Sarvagya, Lalit Parimoo as Dr Jackal.
In the Kaliyuga, greed and malice had devoured every living entity, and it was necessary to exterminate such tainted beings. Therefore, Suryawanshi Sadhus chooses a man; that individual was taught how to energise the seven chakras in the human body. This phenomenon bestowed upon him an enormous amount of superpower and complete mastery of the five elements of nature: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Life. This resulted in the formation of Shaktimaan.
Sony Pictures India made the announcement
Earlier in February, Sony Pictures India announced that our desi superhero would be adapted for the big screen, which marks a dream come true moment for the Indian superhero community. The studio also announced that a trilogy would be released in theatres. Sony Pictures International has also acquired the character’s film adaptation rights.
Following the announcement, a teaser was launched on Bheeshm International and Sony Pictures India’s YouTube channels. The full teaser was entitled “Peoples Hero,” emphasising the Indian superhero’s widespread popularity.
Who will play the role of Shaktimaan?
It is speculated that Shaktimaan’s role has been offered to Ranveer Singh, who has expressed a strong interest in portraying it. He hasn’t, however, signed the movie contract just yet. If the reports are accurate, what could be a perfect aspect than the well-known actor portraying the role of Shaktimaan.
Bheeshm International and Brewing Thoughts Pvt. Ltd. are also associated with the film
The movie will stick to its originality by maintaining the modern vibes. Mukesh Khanna’s Bheeshm International is also involved in the project confirming that Shaktimaan will stay faithful to its source material. The film is also attributed to Brewing Thoughts Pvt. Ltd.
