UNITED STATES: Last night New York City witnessed rainfall of more than 80mm in Central Park in just 60 minutes because of which States of emergency were declared in New York and New Jersey as the remains of the hurricane caused floods which forced New York City to shut their subway services. It also broke the previous record of 49mm which was set by Tropical Storm Henri last month.
According to the New York City police, 7 people died in four flooding incidents which included 3 men, 3 women, and a 2-year-old boy. The little kid was found lifeless inside a house alongside a 50-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman.

We got a report of flooding somewhere around 11 pm at Queens and when we reached there one person from the building was declared dead, said the New York City’s fire department. A person from New Jersey was also found dead in his vehicle near the Passaic River.
The New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that “We’re enduring a historic weather event tonight with record breaking rain across the city, brutal flooding, and dangerous conditions on our roads”. He also told the citizens to stay away from the road and subways and avoid getting out of the house. Traveling of non-emergency vehicles on streets was also banned until 5 am ET.
New York City’s Airports experienced disturbance while flying whereas New Jersey’s airports limited their flights. A hurricane that hit New Orleans at the weekend, left the city without electricity and also caused some serious damage.
