UNITED STATES: Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization renowned for its flagship program Sesame Street, has announced the appointment of Joseph Giraldi as its new Chief Operating Officer. Giraldi will spearhead the operational strategy for the Workshop, ensuring the continued creation of award-winning educational media, initiatives, and products that deliver significant impact to families worldwide. His responsibilities will extend across various platforms and emerging technologies, positioning the organization for sustained growth and innovation. Giraldi will report directly to Sherrie Westin, CEO of Sesame Workshop.
Giraldi brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career in media and technology. Most recently, he co-founded CJBK Media Group, a consulting firm dedicated to serving nonprofit, corporate, and start-up organizations. At CJBK Media Group, Giraldi provided thought leadership and strategic planning, driving innovation and growth through storytelling, technology, and strategic partnerships.

Prior to his role at CJBK Media Group, Giraldi held several key positions that underscore his expertise in driving business growth and digital transformation. His tenure at Smithsonian Channel (Paramount) spanned 12 years, during which he served in various capacities including Executive Vice President of Digital Media & Strategy. In this role, Giraldi led global marketing, growth strategy, and execution, building foundational operational and organizational structures that expanded the company’s international digital and product portfolio.
Giraldi’s career also includes significant contributions at other major organizations. At IMAX, Time Inc., and IBM, he played pivotal roles in driving new business growth. Notably, during his time as Director of Digital Distribution & Strategic Partnerships at HBO, Giraldi led the vision, strategy, and execution of HBO’s expansion into digital content and emerging platforms, laying the groundwork for the network’s digital evolution.
Beyond his professional achievements, Giraldi is deeply committed to the arts and education. He serves on the Board of Trustees for TDF, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the power of the performing arts to a diverse audience. Additionally, he contributes to the academic community as an Adjunct Professor in the Entertainment, Media, and Technology Program at NYU Stern, sharing his insights and experience with the next generation of media professionals.
