On the other hand, Saunders is currently the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super middleweight champion of the world. Saunders has a record of 30 wins and 0 losses. As per the reports, Saunders’ team has an issue with the size of the boxing ring. Saunder has said that he wants to fight in a 24 foot ring and he won’t fight if the ring size is less than that. Due to this, Saunders didn’t showed up at a scheduled press conference against Canelo.

Canelo apparently said that he doesn’t even care about the size if the ring. Talking about his opponent he said, “This is not the only excuse had. This is just one of many, many excuses he has had in this buildup. I am focused and I’m going to go in there and do my job.”

Saunders’ problem with the size of the ring

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has said that if Saunders withdraw from the fight then British super middleweight contender John Ryder would likely get the call to step in as a replacement.

Hearn added that when he met with Saunders’ team they wanted a 20 foot ring.”I cleared that with Canelo and he said no problem. Then a week before the fight saunders said that he wanted a 22 foot inside the ropes. I didn’t wanted to go back to Canelo with it. Eventually I had no choice but before I could even finish the sentence Canelo said “no problem”.
