INDIA: Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan are all set to begin their shoot for Citadel, an American original remake series based on the ’90s. Fans are already excited for the extravagant experience on OTT.
Both the actors are phenomenal at their work, and according to Varun’s latest confirmation on KJo’s chat show, he agreed to take up roles for digital platforms.
However, Dhawan was tight-lipped about signing any OTT project, but now it’s confirmed.
Nowadays, renowned actors like Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, and Saif Ali Khan are also seen acting on the online platform.
Samantha was last seen in Family Man series, and her role was highly praised. Meanwhile, Varun will debut with his upcoming project Citadel. Samantha will play the female lead character, whereas Varun’s role is also power-packed. Both will be seen playing the roles of spies in the thriller show.
In a recent development, a close source revealed that “Citadel India” is set in the 1990s. The creators experiment with two timelines: the beginning and end of the 1990s. A special look is being worked on for Varun and Samantha, as both the actors are looking to start their workshops by early November.
The backdrop work for the series, like pre-production, location hunting, and action design, has already been commenced by Raj and DK, who are the directors of the project.
As per reports, “The series will go on floors by the end of November or early December, once Varun is free from the promotions of Bhediya. Samantha, too, will wrap up her other commitments before jumping into the ambitious world of Citadel India.”
As per rumors, the OTT thriller will release on Amazon Prime. “It’s a global espionage thriller, with the makers planning multiple spin-offs for multiple markets under the common umbrella of Citadel. There will be Citadel Italy, Citadel Mexico, and many more,” the source said.
“The Indian version of the film will fill in the details for Priyanka Chopra’s character in the wider umbrella, with Varun and Samantha leading the roost,” the source added.
