UNITED STATES: The Academy Award winner has now joined the cast of Kraven The Hunter, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson previously confirmed in the title role. Russell Crowe’s role in the film is yet to be confirmed. Although the film will feature most of Kraven’s family members, his character’s appearance is unknown. As a result, he could play a member of the family. This might lead to him being revealed as a villain who would be a fantastic foil for Aaron Taylor Johnson.
Russell Crowe has already been confirmed as Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder, so this will be his second Marvel appearance. And the character of Zeus will not fit in under any circumstances in Kraven the Hunter, confirming that he will not be playing the same role in the film.
J. C. Chandor is set to direct the movie. Along with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Richard Wenk will enter as Screenwriters. Producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will join the project. The film will be released in theatres on January 13, 2023.
Kraven as anti-hero
Since Kraven is also a well-known Spider-Man supervillain, portraying him as a complete hero will be tough. As a result, Sony intends to show him as an anti-hero. His persona may be portrayed sympathetically, but he will later be converted into a true Spider-Man antagonist. It will be fascinating to see how Sony portrays Kraven as a villain, which will be significant because it may lead to him joining the Sinister Six.
Kraven finally defeats Spider-Man in comics
Kraven the Hunter initially appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 (1964) and has become a fan favorite. The character has multiple storylines and appearances in Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery. But Kraven’s Last Hunt: Spider-Man Cannot Be Defeated is the most famous and exciting comic to witness. The Dark and Grittier story, written by J.M. DeMatteis and illustrated by Mike Zeck, reveals the near-impossible: Kraven overcomes Spider-Man. He finally defeats Spider-Man after a tense battle, and to enrage his adversary; he buries Spider-Man alive. Later, he dons the costume of a wall-crawler and goes on a crime-fighting spree as a mimic of Spider-Man. Spider-Man eventually defeated Kraven as the tale progressed in the comics.
Following the great success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony is keen to expand its universe, which already contains Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), and the upcoming Morbius, starring Jared Leto in the titular role. Kraven the Hunter film is starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson are the upcoming movies that will be the next installments in the Sony Universe of Marvel characters.
