UNITED STATES: As anticipation swells for Nintendo’s forthcoming console, speculations about the enigmatic “Switch 2” continue to flood the gaming community. The most recent insights stem from a reliable source known for previous leaks that proved accurate.
Media sources assert that Nintendo is poised to adopt a strategy akin to Sony and Microsoft, introducing a digital-only model alongside the traditional physical game-compatible version for their next console.
Reportedly, the digital variant is priced at $400, while the standard edition, accommodating physical game cartridges, is slated for $449. This marks a notable increase from the current Switch’s standalone price of £259.99 on Nintendo’s official website.
According to SoldierDelta, the proposed launch date is September 24, 2024, aligning with earlier rumours of a late 2024 release window. However, an alternative date of November 3, 2024, has been cited as a contingency plan should any setbacks arise.
These revelations, initially disseminated on Discord, have since been widely circulated across various platforms. Additional insights were shared on the Famiboards forum, where SoldierDelta acknowledged that pricing and launch dates may undergo revisions.
Notably, the absence of an OLED screen and the inclusion of augmented reality (AR) capabilities on the next Nintendo console were also reaffirmed.
Nintendo has maintained an air of secrecy regarding its upcoming console, offering scant official details. Although the information remains speculative, SoldierDelta’s track record of accuracy lends credence to these reports.
While acknowledging the existence of a “next console,” Nintendo has committed to supporting the current Switch beyond March 2024, hinting at unannounced projects in the pipeline, such as “Princess Peach: Showtime!” and the eagerly anticipated “Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door” remake.
