Set in the ’90s in India, the web series revolves around corruption, crime, governance failure, rule of mafia dons and the rise of a street smart don who leveraged the loop holes in the system to create an empire for himself. ‘Paper’ is produced by Vibhu Agarwal and co-produced by Falguni Shah’s Dreamzz Images Studio and directed by Deepak Pandey.
Talking about the show, producer Vibhu Agarwal said, “We, at ULLU are undergoing a whole paradigm shift as we are launching ULLU 2.0 and we couldn’t think of a better show to launch with this new approach. I am extremely proud to present this show. Every aspect of “Paper” has been closely looked into, right from the narrative to the scale, to the performances, everything is top notch. I would also like to add that Rohit Bose Roy’s performance is outstanding and the amount of work and prep the actor has put in to it, reflects fabulously on screen.”
The series tracks the journey of a simple fruit vendor who’s excellent negotiation skills help him become the biggest scam kingpin of the nation. Standing tall against him with all his forces is ACP Diwan, played by Parag Tyagi who’s determined to expose and bring him down.
Sharing his experience while working on the show, Roy said, “The makers narrated me the one liner of the project and I was instantly excited. I have always played roles of a good looking man or a suave businessman in my career, so I always wanted to break that image and play a rooted character. It is a very well written and gripping script and I have given it my all and I am really as excited about this show as I was for my debut film. Let’s hope this Diwali brings me much happiness.”
Apart from Rohit Bose Roy and Parag Tyagi, Paper also stars Kate Sharma, Preeti Soni, Aarti Nagpal, Akansha Sharda, Surbhi Tiwari, Ganesh Yadav, Manoj Verma and Rajeev Bhardwaj amongst others.
