INDIA: Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja, debuted in politics with the Gujarat elections. The new face of the Jamnagar North constituency doesn’t have any past experience in politics.
However, the cricketer’s wife defeated the opposition with over 62,000 votes after 16 of 17 rounds of counting, according to Election Commission of India data.
Rivaba Jadeja emerged as the ruling member with record-breaking win
Rivaba was competing against Aam Aadmi Party’s Karshanbhai Karmur, a member of the influential Ahir community, who received 34,00 votes, and Congress party’s Bipendrasinh Jadeja who received less than 23,000 votes.
The saffron party was ruling in Gujarat for the past several years and has maintained the same in this tenure, winning the election for the seventh time.
The Indian cricketer’s wife is also working against his father-in-law and sister-in-law, who have been campaigning for the Congress candidate in the area.
When Rivaba was asked how she managed to cope, she said insisting that “It is not the first time that two members of a political party are linked with opposing ideas. He is speaking as a member of another political party, not as my father-in-law. It is a private concern for him. I have faith in the people of Jamnagar.”
Rivaba joined the saffron party three years ago post that, her involvement in the party remained active in the Jamnagar North assembly constituency, working dedicatedly to advancing women’s empowerment in the area. On the personal front, the lady politician tied the knot with Ravindra Jadeja in 2016.
She is a student of mechanical engineering at Atmiya University, Rajkot. Her father is a well-known businessman in Gujarat thus, makes her roots intact in the State of Jewels.
The cricketer’s wife in the recent past praised her husband for supporting her in every way. She also admired him for being such a wonderful husband and said everyone should get such a supportive partner.
