On her birth anniversary, Transcontinental Times remembers the ‘First Female Superstar’ of Bollywood, Shree Amma Yanger Ayyappan, popularly known as Sridevi.

Legendary actress Sridevi

Sridevi was one of the most prominent figures in the Indian film industry who ruled over decades and set a benchmark in the acting field. Some of her blockbuster movies are English Vinglish, Mr India, Nagina, Tohfa, and many more. In her career, Sridevi worked on over 271 films and bagged many prestigious awards. The Madras-born actress also won a National Award for her role in ‘Mom’.

In addition to her acting prowess, Sridevi was known for her grace, elegance, and glorious collection of sarees. She loved her roots and wore them proudly through her sarees. Everyone still misses Sridevi’s saree-style game and impeccable persona.

Sridevi was married to famous film director Boney Kapoor and was the mother of two daughters, Khushi and Janhvi.

Sridevi breathed her last in 2018, drowning in the bathtub of a hotel room in Dubai.

On the special occasion of mother Sridevi’s birth anniversary, daughter Janhvi penned down an emotional note in memory of her mother. Janhvi, the elder child of the legend, took to her Instagram and wished her mother by writing, “Happy birthday Mumma. I miss you more and more every day. I love u forever.” This quote is complemented with some very adorable photos from her childhood with her mother.

The pictures show how mother Sridevi lovingly holds Janhvi in her arms and smiles at the camera. The epitome of beauty, Sridevi draped in a red Banarasi saree, and Janhvi wore a blue lehenga.

On the other hand, Khushi posted a monochromatic photo with her mother where Sridevi is kissing her with utmost love and care.
