INDIA: The launch of Reliance Jio’s newest low-cost 4G feature phone, the “JioBharat B1,” has caused a stir in the market. Reliance Jio is a major player in India’s telecom sector. The newest budget mobile phone from Reliance, this internet-enabled model seeks to give a wider audience a flawless and economical mobile experience.
The JioBharat B1 features a compact 2.4-inch screen, catering to consumers who prefer the simplicity and functionality of feature phones. It comes equipped with a significant feature in the form of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments support, made accessible through the pre-installed JioPay app. This integration allows users to make secure and convenient digital payments right from their feature phone, enhancing financial inclusion in the process.
In terms of design, the rear of the device sports a distinctive camera island, somewhat reminiscent of the Google Pixel 8, housing an unspecified digital camera and an LED torch. A substantial 2,000mAh battery is tucked inside the device, offering an impressive standby time of up to 343 hours, ensuring that users remain connected without the need for frequent recharging.
The JioBharat B1 comes preloaded with a range of applications, including JioSaavn, an FM radio app, and JioCinema, enriching the user experience and making entertainment and music readily accessible. The phone operates on the Threadx RTOS platform and supports a wide range of Indian languages, including regional dialects, ensuring a user-friendly experience for all.
Weighing in at 110 grams, the phone boasts a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot, enabling users to expand their storage capacity by up to 128GB. However, it’s important to note that this budget-feature phone is carrier-locked, limiting its use to Jio SIM cards. Nevertheless, the company has clarified that existing Jio customers can seamlessly use the device with their current Jio SIMs.
To maximize the benefits of the JioBharat B1, consumers are advised to opt for a recharge plan of Rs 123 or higher. Plans priced at Rs 91 and Rs 75 may not provide access to all of the phone’s services. The Rs 123 plan offers unlimited voice calls and 500MB of mobile data for a period of 28 days.
Available in a single color variant, black, the JioBharat B1 is priced affordably at Rs 1,299. For those who are not already Jio subscribers, Reliance is offering a complimentary SIM card with the purchase of the device.
Earlier this year, Reliance Jio introduced the JioBharat, which is a more cost-effective version of the JioBharat B1, offering a similar feature set but with a smaller battery and display.
