UNITED STATES: Lights, camera, plastics! Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first glimpse of the highly anticipated ‘Mean Girls’ adaptation, a theatrical rendition of the 2018 Tony-nominated musical inspired by the iconic 2004 comedy.

Reneé Rapp, acclaimed for her role in ‘The Sex Lives of College Girls,’ takes the reins as the formidable Regina George, reprising her Broadway performance.

A star-studded ensemble joins her, featuring Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”), Angourie Rice (“Mare of Easttown”), Christopher Briney (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”), and Jaquel Spivey (“A Strange Loop”).

In this high school drama, Rice embodies Cady Heron, the fresh face navigating the intricacies of teenage social hierarchy. Guided by Janis and Damian, portrayed by Cravalho and Spivey, Cady embarks on a mission to infiltrate the elite clique, the Plastics.

However, as the plot thickens, romantic entanglements with Regina’s boyfriend, Aaron Samuels (played by Briney), add unexpected layers to the narrative.

Mean Girls reunion wouldn’t be complete without the return of Tina Fey and Tim Meadows, the original stars of the 2004 film, who grace the screen once again.

Lorna Mitchells joins as a producer alongside Fey, while Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne take the directorial helm. The Mean Girls is orchestrated by Jeff Richmond, with lyrics penned by Nell Benjamin.

Mean Girls is set to premiere in theaters on January 12, 2024, promising a theatrical spectacle that was initially intended for a streaming debut on Paramount+.
