INDIA: The Delhi Capitals (DC) are having a disappointing start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, losing all five of their matches so far.

Despite having experienced individuals such as head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly at their disposal, the team has failed to perform up to expectations.

In their last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), DC were outplayed and lost by 23 runs. RCB posted a total of 174-6, with Virat Kohli scoring 50.

DC’s batting fell apart as they lost regular wickets and were eventually restricted to 151-9, with only Manish Pandey making a half-century. For RCB, debutant Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up 3 wickets.

DC’s struggles can be attributed to their inability to put up competitive totals and their batting collapses. Despite Warner’s good form, the rest of the batting order has failed to contribute consistently.

The team will need to work on their strategy and find a way to win matches if they hope to make a comeback in the tournament.

During DC’s match against RCB, former India head coach Ravi Shastri took a cheeky jab at Sourav Ganguly, the director of cricket for DC. Shastri, who was commentating during the match, said, “Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the board. He must have thought it was nice upstairs.”

This comment came after Delhi Capital’s fifth straight defeat in the competition, and Shastri highlighted the team’s poor performance and the pressure that the individuals in the dugout must be feeling.

With five straight defeats, DC finds themselves at the bottom of the points table with zero points. The team will need to regroup quickly and turn their fortunes around if they hope to make it to the playoffs. The IPL 2023 season is far from over, and

Delhi Capitals still has time to make a comeback, but they will need to address their issues and find a winning formula.
