The undisputed rivalry between legislature party leader Siddaramaiah and state president DK Shivakumar over the chief minister’s post might harm the party’s reputation.

The Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal in a big fat meeting said, “The entire leadership of Karnataka will join hands together and win Karnataka in the 2023 polls…..unknowingly or knowingly some statements are made here and there before the media. Don’t fall for that trap, party leaders should not speak in different voices inside or outside.”

Both party leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar agreed to the idea of getting elected as the Chief Minister, with the concern of the newly-elected MLAs. But stalwarts of the party make option differences and create coil amongst each other.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Karnataka on Tuesday evening to attend Siddaramaiah’s birthday celebrations. According to party sources, this is a rare occurrence at the congress party where local leaders are celebrated. The Gandhi family never allowed such celebrations and projection of State leadership earlier. However, due to political pressures, the party decided to celebrate Siddaramaiah’s 75th birth anniversary.

Nevertheless, India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal has affirmed that there was no in-house fight within the party. However, in a media interview, Siddaramaiah confessed his desire to be the new Chief Minister in his party came into power and the same goes with DK Shivakumar.
