INDIA. Mumbai: China has illegally occupied a sizable portion of Ladakh, and local people are being denied their ancestral right of grazing cattle in their homeland in brazen violation of law, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated on Friday.

Addressing media on the concluding day of the two-day the I.N.D.I.A. alliance Mumbai meet, Gandhi said that during his recent visit to Ladakh, several shepherds complained to him that the means of their livelihood were being snatched away by the Chinese intruders and the Chinese presence was quite apparent in Ladakh.

“Prime Minister Narendra and his Government have been claiming that there has been no illegal occupation of Ladakh land, but the situation is different,” Gandhi added.

Referring to the I.N.D.I.A. Mumbai meet, Gandhi said that leaders representing 60 per cent of India are on the stage, which itself proves that the people of India are resolute in defeating the BJP in the ensuing elections.

Gandhi also claimed that wealth worth One billion US $ has gone out of the country since certain industrialists are being shielded by the NDA Government. He stated that the report of the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) that the Mauritius funds were used to funnel substantial investments into the publicly traded stocks of one particular industrialist is being highlighted by foreign media. This is shameful since India is hosting the G-20 summit, he added.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge referred to the proposed Special Parliament session being organised from September 18 to September 22 and said that no meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was convened before convening the special session.

Kharge added that such sessions were not convened to handle the COVID pandemic, to handle the situation arising out of the monetisation of currency notes, to deal with the situation arising out of the border stand-off with China, and even to tackle the recent volatile Manipur situation.

“Now, all of a sudden, such a session is being convened, and no one has an idea about it. What better proof of Modi’s “dictatorship” is required?” he asked.

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray said that the I.N.D.I.A. meet aims at “fearless India” to ensure that there is no betrayal. For example, although Modi had claimed “Sabka Vikas, Sabka Sath” to take along all the development of the country, eventually, those supporting him were kicked out, Thackeray added.

A 14 member co-ordination Committee and Election Strategy Committee, a Campaign Committee, Working Group for Social Media and Working Group for Media and Working Group for Research was set up on Friday by I.N.D.I.A. to face ensuing elections.

A host of leaders who resolved to defeat BJP, claiming to “save democracy and Indian constitution” included Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Aam Admi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and CPM Secretary General Sitaram Yechury.
