INDIA: Speculation is rife that Indian coach Rahul Dravid’s T20 contract may end this year. However, he will remain India’s coach in other formats.

The ‘separate coach strategy’ seems practical because India had been underperforming in the T20I.

Recently, India lost the Asia cup due to a mediocre performance. The team could not even make it to the finals. Meanwhile, in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, India lost embarrassingly against England.

So, is it not logical to replace Dravid with a different coach? T20 has been so dynamic lately, and the format is gaining rapid popularity. Therefore it is necessary to build a solid T20 side.

According to reports from the BCCI Headquarters, the Indian board is “seriously considering” appointing a separate coach for India’s T20 setup.

The new coaching staff for the Indian T20 Team could be unveiled as early as January, according to a source in BOARD.

This suggests that India, led by a new captain & new coach, will play Sri Lanka in a T20 series in January.

Earlier, Ravi Shastri and Harbhajan Singh both advocated for India to have a separate coach and captain for its T20 team

However, it is not yet known who will be appointed as the new coach. It is essential to experiment with the team now, as the T20 World Cup will begin in 2024.

India vs. Sri Lanka is anticipated to be played in January 2023, when the Indian cricket team will return to India after playing three one-day matches and two test matches against Bangladesh.

A total of six matches will be played, including three T20 matches and three one-day matches.
