PZ Cussons Donates Shea-Butter Processing Center For Niger Women

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. Shea butter is edible and is used in food preparation in some African countries.

NIGERIA. Niger State: PZ Cussons Foundation has donated a shea-butter processing center to an all women Cooperative Group in Fazhi community in Edati local government area of Niger state.

The Foundation states that the building of the processing center was part of the Foundation’s corporate social responsibility.

The Executive Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Pz Cussons Foundation, Mrs Jacqueline Ezeokwelume who handed over the Centre to the women expresses optimsm that the project would make the women economically viable.

Ezeokwelume said that the project would further empower the women and help them in addressing some of the economic challenges faced by women in the community.

“The project is an opportunity to give back to the society and we are committed to executing more sustainable projects that will be beneficial to the country.

Ezeokwelume then called on others to emulate the same gesture by harnassing the abundant human and natural resources to add value to the country.

Shea-Butter Association Appreciates Gesture

The National Shea Product Association of Nigeria (NSPAN) has appreciated the gesture of the Foundation saying that it would improve the production of shea butter in the state.

The President of the association, Mohammed Ahmed Kontagora said the project would be beneficial to the women who are committed a d highly enterprising.

He described the women as committed and highly enterprising.

Kontagora also pleaded with the women to take the project as one of theirs by ensuring that it is maintained and the equipment do not deteriorate.

He promised to give all necessary support to the women to promote their group and product to meet the International standard.

Applaud from the Local Government

The Chairman of Edati Local Government, Alhaji Zubairu Mamangi, said the project would bring about economic development to the area and commended the PZ foundation for the gesture.

He then called on the foundation to extend the same gesture to other women across the state.
