INDIA. Mumbai: Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal on Monday filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against pro-Khalistani protesters who are protesting at the Indian Embassy, in Washington, USA, and requested the Delhi Police lodge an FIR against them and take strict action against them by revoking their passports as per law.

The complaint stated that the protesters threatened and abused the Indian Ambassador to the USA, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and the staff of the Indian embassy. They also vandalised the Indian embassy and attacked an Indian journalist in Washington. They provoked and incited the public at large against the Union of India just outside the Indian Embassy.

On March 25, a group of pro-Khalistani protestors abused and threatened Sandhu in Washington, DC, by making inciting statements against the Indian government. In a video widely shared on the internet, one of the Khalistani demonstrators was heard making baseless claims about alleged killings of religious minorities in India, the complaint read.

The statements made by the protesters clearly showed that the protesters intended to incite Sikhs and Muslims against the Indian Government. The protesters were seen trying to incite violence against the embassy staff through their speeches and also doing physical damage to the property of the Indian Embassy.

These acts and statements made by pro-Khalistani protesters were provocative and intended to create disharmony, hatred, and enmity amongst the various religions and masses of India to incite the masses to fight against the Indian government, the complaint read.

Most of the protestors are Indian citizens holding Indian passports, as the complaint pointed out. Through their acts and statements, the protestors have committed offences under sections 153,153A,504,505,506,120 of IPC, which are cognizable and serious.

The protesters included turbaned men of all ages who raised pro-Khalistan slogans. The organisers used microphones to make anti-India speeches both in English and Punjabi and targeted the Punjab Police for alleged human rights violations, the complaint read.

In another development, the Delhi police registered an FIR on March 23 against those who desecrated the Indian National Flag at the premises of the Indian High Commission in London on March 19.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police registered the FIR against extremists led by political asylum seeker Avtar Singh Khanda. The FIR was registered under sectors 109/147/148/149/120-B/448/452/325 of IPC, along with Section 13 of the UAPA, Section 3(1) of the PDPP, and the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act.

In the meantime, the Central Government has asked the Punjab Government for an update on the people who are plotting against the country while living abroad with Indian passports.
