INDIA: The first instalment of Mani Ratnam’s historical drama Ponniyin Selvan is all set to release on September 30, 2022. The makers unveil the outstanding poster of Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhivarman. Previously, the film’s creator released additional posters of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini. On Thursday, Lyca Productions released the poster of Trisha Krishnan as Princess Kundavai.
Jayam Ravi excels in the new poster with an intriguing look
Following the poster release of Trisha Krishnan, Lyca Productions released the new poster of Jayam Ravi on their Twitter handle. The tweet read, “Hail the Visionary Prince, the Architect of the Golden Era, the Great Raja Raja Chola…introducing Ponniyin Selvan! #PS1 TEASER OUT TODAY AT 6 PM.“
Finally, the much-anticipated poster has arrived, with Jayam Ravi playing the Raja Raja Chola, aka Ponniyin Selvan. The actor’s persona is depicted on the poster wielding a spear and a shield, with a gripping expression and a few blood drops on his face. The first look poster looks stunning, and the makers announced to release the teaser today at 6 PM.
On the film’s announcement, a few characters and actors playing them were revealed including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Trisha. The ensemble cast poster’s appearance ensures excitement among the fans. The film also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, and Prathiban.
Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus focuses on the great Chola empire
The film Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of the 1950 Tamil novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Ponniyin Selvan: I is one of the most expensive Indian films, with a budget of 500 crores. Produced under the banner of Lyca Productions and Madaras Talkies, the film is gearing up for its release in two instalments on September 30, 2022. With Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan, director Mani Ratnam penned the script for his tented magnum opus.
