NIGERIA. Minna: The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) is immortalizing past Chairmen and Registrars of the council to appreciate their dedication in taking the Council to enviable heights.
Six past Chairmen and Registrars of PCN have so far been Immortalized since the 9th of March with the seventh Immortalized on Friday, 23rd April.
The chairman of the Governing Council of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Professor Ahmed Tijani Mora at the naming of the conference Hall of PCN building at the North Central Zonal office said that the gesture is to celebrate excellence in the pharmacy profession.
He said that Pharmacists who ha r given their all to bring the profession to occupy its present place of pride will be Immortalized by naming the auditorium or committee rooms within the newly completed facility which is one of the seven physical structures remodelled and owned by the PCN across the country.
Mora stated that these past leaders of the council have been instrumental in improving pharmacy practice and regulation in the country.
The Registrar of PCN, Pharmacist Nurudeen Elijah Mohammed said that the recognition and honour of past Chairmen and Registrars were approved at the 41st PCN Governing Council regular meeting in November 2020.
“This initiative of naming PCN auditorium, halls and committee rooms after our distinguished and worthy Chairmen and Registrars is PCN’s way of keeping their legacies alive.”

He said that the Honoree, Professor Elijah Sokomba was identified for immortalization due to his laudable contributions in providing good leadership towards the development of PCN.
Past Chairmen and Registrars Immortalized
On March 9, a past Chairman of the PCN, Professor Festus Adio Ogunbona was Immortalized in Ibadan; on March 18 in Uy
The past Registrars Immortalized include Pharmacist Albert Brown, Pharmacist Hannatu Kayit and late Pharmacist Abdulazeez Rafindadi.
Honoree Response
“I am grateful to God that I am alive to witness this occasion. I appreciate the decision of the Governing Council to immortalize the past Chairmen and Registrars of the Council.”
He said that this gesture will encourage the younger Pharmacists to put in their best and that their efforts will be recognized.
“It is a sort of encouragement to the younger ones coming up behind us who are yet to bear such responsibilities.”
Sokomba urged the Governing Council to bring in innovations that will move and develop the Council.
During his tenure, Professor Sokomba decentralized the operation of the Registry by actualizing the creation of Zonal and state offices of PCN.
